The R.B. Stewart Award standing in front of the seven sub-categories earned this past year.
Pi Kappa Phi was named the RB Stewart Award winner, recognizing it as the top fraternity at Purdue University for 2007-08.
The award was given at the October 3 Greek Gala, which recognizes chapter-level accomplishments. Individual awards were given out at a spring reception with the Omega chapter winning two awards. Steve Holtsclaw was named the 2007-08 Greek Man of the Year (also Purdue Greek Man of the Year and national Pi Kappa Phi Student of the Year) and Joe Schaefer was named the Outstanding Greek Scholar.
Purdue Greeks use nine categories to rate chapters. Pi Kappa Phi won seven of the nine individual categories that then were used to determin the overall RB Stewart Award.
The categories that Pi Kappa Phi won include:
- Alumni Relations
- Chapter Management
- House Management
- Leadership Development
- New Member Development
- Philanthropy/Community Service
- Scholastic Excellence
The only two categories that Omega chapter did not win were in external relations and social development.
By raising $12,000 for our national philanthropy, Push America, in 2007-08, Pi Kappa Phi topped all-fraternity fund raising for the eighth consecutive year.
Zeta Tau Alpha won the Dean Elsbury Award as the top sorority. No sorority won more than one of the seven individual review categories.
2009 Pi Kappa Phi Scholarship
Pi Kappa Phi offers a $750 and a $250
scholarship for all incoming freshman to Purdue. Applicants will be selected
based upon their demonstration of the tenets of C.L.A.S.S. in a short
application and essay which can be found here. If there
are any questions contact Eric Allen (ewallen@purdue.edu) for more
information.

Leaders by Choice
|
|
On behalf of the Omega Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our official website. Founded on Nov. 24, 1922, the Omega Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi boasts one of the best locations on Purdue’s campus. Located directly across from Grissom Hall, it is an incredibly short walk to nearly all resources on campus. We are men of CLASS. Each of Pi Kappa Phi’s 159 chapters nationwide is founded on the same ideals: Character, Leadership, Academics, Service, and Sportsmanship.
Character. The men of Omega are recruited and built to be men of high character and integrity. The fraternity offers many opportunities to better each member as a brother of Pi Kappa Phi, as a student, and as a citizen.
Leadership. We are Leaders by Choice. The Omega Chapter has built consistent leaders over the years. Each member is expected to be involved in at least one organization outside of Pi Kappa Phi. We have had a member hold a position on the Interfraternity Council Executive Board for the past 6 years, currently having members as the Vice President of Operations and Director of Publications. Members of the chapter are involved in other prominent organizations on campus such as Old Masters, College Mentors for Kids, Order of Omega, Boiler Gold Rush, and many other organizations and honoraries.
Academics. We are at Purdue to receive an education. The Omega Chapter consistently ranks above the all fraternity average for GPA. We are proud of the 2 members that received a perfect 4.0 last semester, the 24 members that received academic honors, and the 47 members that received above a 3.0 in most recent statistics.
Service. We are dedicated to service. In 1977, Pi Kappa Phi was the first – and remains the only – national fraternity to create its own philanthropic organization, Push America. Push America is an outreach program to raise money and awareness for those with disabilities. In the past 2 years, the Omega chapter has built three wheelchair ramps for local residents in a partnership with Push America. The Pi Kapp 100 is a 100km bike ride that the members of the Omega chapter participate in to raise money for Push America. Pi Kappa Phi holds a national cross-country bike ride called the Journey of Hope every summer to raise awareness and money for people with disabilities. The Omega Chapter proudly had a member participate in the life changing ride in 2007 and we’ve had 10 since its inception. In each of last 6 years, Pi Kappa Phi has been the top fund raising chapter at Purdue. In 2008, we raised more than $12,000 for Push America.
Sportsmanship. For the past 3 years the fraternity has placed in the Top 3 in all-fraternity intramurals. The chapter won 3 team championships and 6 individual championships. Pi Kappa Phi prides itself in the support that is given through intramurals. When going to a football game, the sideline will be packed with fellow brothers supporting their team.
We pride ourselves on the balance that we can create in the chapter.
This site exists to give you greater access to any information you need about our brotherhood, house, philanthropies, history, and more. Please take some time to navigate the site using the links to the left and feel free to contact us with any questions that may arise.
Sincerely,
Jim Vasil, Archon
